The annual Robert Burns Night dinner will be held Wednesday Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Clay Pot Bistro, 182 S. Main St., Bowling Green.
The event, presented by the Clay Pot and the National Trust for Scotland, features Chef Boby Mitov’s continental versions of traditional Scottish dishes, four flights of Scotch, prose and poetry readings, and music.
Host Elliot MacFarlane will guide diners through the traditional ritual from the invocation, “Selkirk Grace” and the presentation and address to the Haggis through the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
MacFarlane will also present “The Immortal Memory – The Life of Robert Burns.” Diners are invited to read Burns’ poetry or bring their own favorite selections to share.
The menu will be:
- Haggis made with grass fed lamb
- Partan Bree, a Scottish crab bisque
- Balmoral Chicken Breast stuffed with Haggis stuffed chicken
- Rumbledethumps, a traditional dish of baked cabbage and potatoes
- Cranachan, fresh berries with raw honey whipped cream and whiskey soaked toasted oats.
Whiskies served will be: Glenfiddich 15 Single Malt, Oban 14, Dalwhinnie 15 Single Malt, and Balvenie Doublewood 12 Single Malt. Belhaven Scottish Al will be served with dinner. Other whiskies and beverages are available.
