Sheriff warns of scam calls about missing jury duty & arrest warrants

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is warning that there is a scam going around using the Sheriff’s office name and names of employees from the sheriff’s office. 

Callers are being told they have missed jury duty and that there is a warrant out for their arrest. 

The Sheriff’s Office would never call on thes matters nor will they ever ask for payments via gift cards. 

The sheriff’s office advise: “If someone calls you about warrants for your arrest or asking for any money via gift cards, please hang up and do NOT give them any personal information. You can confirm you do not have a warrant by calling 419-354-9001 Ext 9 prior to making any payments.”
