The Beat’s Competition Company will present its Season 12/13 recital at the Stranahan Theater in Toledo on Friday May 28 at 6:30 p.m.

The recital features a cast of 101 dancers performing tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical/contemporary works. Entitled “After the Storm,” the recital celebrates a return to the stage after a challenging year of canceled events and remote learning.

Graduating seniors Jenna Hastings (Bowling Green High School), Kate Ozimek (Perrysburg High School), Cora Renollet (Eastwood High School), and Josie Wagner (Central Catholic High School) are in the spotlight, and seniors from the BDC Class of 2020 –Mallory Hansen, Grace Knitz, Madeline Lindow, Lilly Schuerman, and Paige Smith – will also be featured as they get the chance to perform after their recital was canceled last season.

Tickets are available by calling the Stranahan box office (419) 381-8851 or online here

Beat owner Colleen Murphy said everyone is glad to be back on stage.

“They’ve worked so hard this year, both in person and on Zoom, and have persevered through a very tough year. … Our families have been very loyal and committed to The Beat throughout the pandemic and have helped our business stay open.”

The studio’s competition company has participated in three events this year that were presented with pandemic protocols.

The company will also have mini-recitals for its recreational classes, but no tickets will be available for the general public.
