Toledo Museum hosting monthly car shows

From TOLEDO MUSEUM OF ART

Inspired by the Life is a Highway: Art and American Car Culture exhibition, art and car enthusiasts alike are invited to view unique vehicles, enjoy live music, and participate in kid-friendly art making experiences during four car shows this summer at the Toledo Museum of Art (TMA).

The rise of the automobile as a popular visual symbol of American culture will be explored in the exhibition, which will feature approximately 125 works of art in a wide variety of media – including painting, sculpture, photography, prints and drawings – and a diversity of artists and perspectives, drawn from the Museum’s permanent collection along with important loans from many other North American institutions. The exhibition will be on view June 15-Sept. 15, 2019 at TMA, the exclusive U.S. venue.

“As part of the Life is a Highway exhibition, TMA wants visitors to not only see the exhibition but experience a bit of car culture by having car shows on the Museum grounds,” said Maria Iafelice, TMA’s youth and family programs manager.

The car shows at TMA will take place in front of the Museum along Monroe Street, which will be closed to through traffic. The themes of each show are:
