The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Women in Business Luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Stone Ridge Golf Club to celebrate October as National Women’s Small Business Month.

The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and presenting sponsor UBS Financial Services extend an invitation to all women who are affiliated with the Chamber and its Investors to be their guest at this luncheon at no charge. We appreciate Justin Henck’s support of this event since its inception and his constant efforts to encourage women to be leaders in business.

The event began on a virtual platform in 2020 to celebrate and recognize the success and accomplishments of women in the Bowling Green area. This year’s program features three outstanding women speaking on their inspirational journeys and accomplishments.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Jan McLaughlin of the BG Independent News.

For 40 years, Jan McLaughlin has worked to be a reliable source of local journalism.  After graduating from BGSU with a degree in journalism, McLaughlin began covering Wood County news at the Sentinel-Tribune.

After leaving the newspaper in late 2015, she and David Dupont took a chance starting the online news service – BG Independent News. Since then, BG Indy has focused on being a news source the community can rely on.

In addition, the event will feature two guest speakers: Annette Rader of William Vaughan Company and Dusty Pendleton of Retro Detailing.

Annette Rader is a BGSU graduate. After working elsewhere for a time, she returned to Bowling Green to work and now serves as a senior manager in the tax department of William Vaughan Company.

Rader is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, currently serving on the Women’s Initiative Committee and a former member of the executive committee.

Dusty Pendleton is the owner of Retro Detailing, a premier automotive detailing business in Bowling Green, Ohio. Together with her husband, Doug Pendleton Jr., their commitment to quality and service has driven the business’s rapid growth. Doug oversees shop operations, allowing Dusty to focus on strategic development, social media, and business management.

Beyond day-to-day operations, Pendleton is co-hosting a detailing podcast currently in development and is authoring a book aimed at helping aspiring detailers launch successful businesses.

“The Chamber is honored to be able to acknowledge the success of these women who have excelled in their fields and as leaders,” said Mary Hinkleman, executive director of the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce. “We hope others will be inspired and motivated by the speakers’ journeys.”

The deadline for registrations is Oct. 6 or when the limit has been reached. Online registration is now open at bgchamber.net/rsvp. We would like to encourage everyone who attends to bring business cards and marketing materials for upcoming events to set out on a marketing table.
