The Wood County Emergency Management Agency has issued the following advisory:
Wood County’s next weather event will begin today (Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020) with a drizzly rain changing over to snow around 1 a.m. Wednesday. Luckily, because the high today will be 40 F, the initial 1” (1 a.m. to 7 a.m. Wednesday) is not expected to create travel concerns. This will change starting around 7 a.m. as snow fall increases. Forecast models indicate 2” between 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. with an additional 2” between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.. For most of Wood County snow will begin to decrease around 6 p.m. with an additional 1” accumulation.
During the majority of the day Wednesday, wind speeds will remain 10-15 MPH with some gusty conditions during the early hours of Thursday morning. If traveling early Thursday morning (after midnight) blowing snow can be an issue.
Currently, to the west of Wood County (parts if Defiance, Fulton and Williams Counties) the snow totals are expected to be 7” to 8” of accumulating snow. They are also expecting more issues with blowing snow. Since Wood County is on the dividing line, a shift in the weather system could be better or worse for us.
