BGSU Lab Band to perform work by jazz grad students at Arlyn’s

The BGSU Jazz Grad assistants will be hosting a Lab Band concert at Arlyn’s Good Beer, 520 Hankey Ave., on Tuesday, April 18 at 7 p.m.

As part of their coursework, jazz graduate students were required to compose or select music to arrange for the BGSU Lab Band I.

Following the Jazz Week concerts with guest, Tamir Hendelman, the grads have been busy at work rehearsing their music under the guidance of Professor David Bixler for an eclectic show of many genres, sounds, and colors.

The graduate students are Dylan Bretz, Tyler Irby, Violet Meltzer, Adrian Mwalija, Amadeo Roberson, Geoff Schneider, and Micah White.

The concert will feature a piece by Meltzer as well as work by guest composers Maggie Brown and Jacob Joseph. The program will include arrangements of music by Nintendo composer Koji Kondo and by jazz masters Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Wayne Shorter, Koji Kondo, Johnny Richards, and Ernie Wilkins.
