County commissioners get $282,000 from state in rebate

Local governments and schools in the five-county region of the State Senator Randy Gardner’s 2nd Senate District received more than $11 million in rebate checks from the Bureau of Workers Compensation beginning this month and continuing through the end of August.

The Wood County Commissioners will receive $282,000 this summer from the rebate program.

BWC officials report that more than $1 billion in total public and private employer rebates are being distributed statewide, representing about 66 percent of the previous year’s premiums.

County, schools and other local governments in the senate district have benefited several times in recent years from significant state rebates.  In addition, private employers this year will receive more than $60 million in rebate checks in the five counties.

“These rebates, totaling billions of dollars since 2013, have been important to the bottom lines of both local governments and private sector employers,” Gardner said.

Overall, local governments and schools in the following counties will receive:  Erie County $1,085,228; Fulton County $535,800; Lucas County $7,398,114; Ottawa County, $609,560; Wood County $1,399,704.
