Gusty day in store with marginal risk of severe weather later

The Wood County Emergency Management Agency  has issued the following advisory:

Wood County is under a Marginal Risk for severe weather today.

Currently Wood County is under a “Wind Advisory” until 1 p.m. today.  South winds will be 20-30mph with gusts up to 50mph.

A few rain showers will remain possible this morning and afternoon.  A cold front will move in late afternoon/ evening and will increase the threat for scattered rain showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. with the risk continuing through 9-10pm.

The primary challenge with this forecast is determining if the morning showers limit the instability or “energy” for thunderstorm development this afternoon. These storms could have gusty winds 40-60 mph are possible as well as an isolated tornado.

Now is a good time to secure any loose outdoor items and prepare should severe weather occur later today.
