Latta stands by his man as Jordan loses again

U.S. Rep Bob Latta joined 198 other Republican members of the US> House in voting for Jim Jordan, a fellow Ohioan, as Speaker of the House.

That fell 18 votes short of what Jordan needed to be elected. The congressman from the 4th District lost ground from yesterday when he secured 200 votes.

Hakeem Jeffries, of New York, received all 212 of the Democratic members including that of U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, of Toledo.

Dissenting Republicans cast votes for a variety of other candidates including Steve Scalise of Louisiana who received seven votes and former Speaker Kevin McCarthy who received 5 votes. Macomb County (Michigan) Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller, a former House member picked up one vote as did another former speaker John Boehner, of Ohio.
