Library offers online presentation on how to preserve summer’s bounty with dehydration

From WOOD COUNTY DISTRICT PUBLIC LIBRARY

Learn how to extend this summer’s bounty and to make tasty and nutritious snacks. Join the Wood County District Public Library and Becky White-Schooner on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. via Google Meet for a presentation on food dehydration. Becky will make the preservation process much less daunting by breaking it down into a few easy steps.

The presentation will cover equipment needs, safe handling practices, types of food preservation, nutritional values, processing and storage. Becky will even provide several unique recipes for treats like Watermelon Candy, Zucchini Chips, and Green Beans Chips.

“Dehydration is a simple and very nutritious way to extend your harvest,” says White-Schooner. “Drying food is an easy, fun, and economical tool.”

Presentation will be on Google Meet Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m., and is expected to last about an hour.
