Library organizes local history scavenger hunt

From WOOD COUNTY DISTRICT PUBLIC LIBRARY

Try your skill with this question: In 1915, what factory/business was located on the corner of Thurstin Avenue and E Wooster in Bowling Green?

On Saturday, Feb. 8, the Wood County Public Library (251 N. Main) will test your determination with a scavenger hunt that helps you chase down fun, local facts.

“This will be the fifth year we have organized the scavenger hunt,” said Marnie Pratt, Local History Librarian and the library’s trivia maven.  “If you really enjoy digging in, this event is for you since there isn’t a single cabinet or file we won’t let you open during the hunt.”

The competition begins at 9 a.m. when the library opens and families, teams, or individuals can start the search at any point during the day.  The competition closes at 3 p.m.

“The team or person with the most correct answers wins downtown dollars, but the real prize is the bragging rights,” said Pratt. “By the way, the answer to the question about the factory is that Monarch Underwear Company was located at that address and the building ran along Thurstin Avenue.”

This event is part of Bowling Green’s Chillabration and Wood County’s 200th anniversary events.
