Michael Ellison, emeritus BGSU theater professor, joins Toledo Ballet’s ‘Nutcracker’ as Mother Ginger

BGSU theater Professor Emeritus Michael Ellison has been cast as Mother Ginger for the Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. Toledo Ballet  performance of “The Nutcracker” in the Stranahan Theater.

Ellison, who retired in 2022, is one of  four community leaders who will perform the role of Mother Ginger.

In addition to Ellison, the others are:

  • Shaun E. Graham, assistant general counsel at Marathon Petroleum Company, will perform during the sold-out school performance presented on Friday, Dec. 8 at 10:30 a.m. 
  • Andrew Newby, CEO and co-founder of The Toledo Spirits Company and HEAVY Beer Company, will perform on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.  
  • Patrick E. Bowe, president & CEO of The Andersons, will perform on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m.
