The Wood County District Public library hosted Novel Night, the new iteration of the library foundation annual fundraiser.
The event drew 116 ticket holders to the library for food, fellowship, and the chance to bid during live and silent auctions. All the money raised goes toward buying materials for the library.
The fundraiser is in its 11th year. During the previous 10 it had been held at Schedel Gardens in Elmore. That venue had become too crowded with a limit of 100 ticket holders, so it was moved to the library in downtown Bowling Green.
Library Director Michael Penrod said since the foundation always receive some funds weeks after the event, a final total will not be available for awhile.
But as of Monday (July 22): “The Library Foundation successfully raised over $150,000 to be used for the purchase of new books in 2020.”
The event raised about $140,000 last year
Penrod added: “We are extremely thankful to all of our sponsors, ticket buyers, silent and live auction bidders, and everyone else that helped to make the evening a magical Novel Night. This community’s support of the library allows us to do so much more.”
