Novel Night receipts boost library’s budget for books & more

Novel Night 2023 was a real page turner for the Wood County District Public Library Foundation.

The annual fundraiser held Thursday night (7/21) brought in more than $141,000.

The gala with dinner and both live and silent auctions had 132 in  attendance at Veterans Building in City Park.

Live auction items in included a stay in a villa in South Africa, the chance to co-host “The Morning Show” with Clint Corpe, and the crowd favorite boxes of cookies baked by Sue Shank.

All the money raised will be used to buy materials for the library, above what has been budgeted.

“WCDPL is truly blessed to have such generous supporters,” Director, Michael Penrod said this morning. “Their trust is inspiring. Their giving is humbling. We will continue to be the best we can be, for them and for everyone in our community.”

Shad Ridenour served as auctioneer for the live auction.
