Richard Farison

Richard B. Farison, 92, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away Sunday November 20, 2016. He was born April 28, 1924 to Blair and Marie (Ballard) Farison. He married Ellen Smith on September 14, 1947 and she survives.

Richard served his country in the United States Army. He received his Bachelor and Master’s degrees at The Ohio State University. He worked as the Wood County agricultural agent for 30 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bowling Green, the Bowling Green Rotary Club, Wood County Agricultural Society and the OSU Alumni Club in Wood County.

Richard worked with numerous cattle feeders in Wood County, was involved in FFA and the Northwest Ohio Mid-American Council on Economic Developments Agricultural Business and Retention Committee in the late 1970’s.

He had a passion for traveling. Traveling extensively throughout the United States, making it to all 50 states with many tour groups.

Along with his wife of 69 years, Ellen, Richard is survived by his son Kenneth (Tammy) Farison of Oakley, Illinois, daughters Barbara (Greg) Fritz of Northwood, Ohio and Patricia (Rick) Smith of Perrysburg, Ohio, brothers Robert (Doris) Farison of Sand Creek, Michigan, Franklin Farison of Euless, Texas and James (Gail) Farison of Waco, Texas, sisters Naomi Good of McClure, Ohio and Margaret (Norman) Fisher of Granton, Wisconsin, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Jeanne Turner, sister-in-law Frieda Farison and brother-in-law Tom Good.

A private graveside service will be held at Wood County Memory Gardens with Rev. Larry Swaisgood officiating. The Wood County Honor Detail will render Military honors.

Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Wood County Public Library, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Kingston of Perrysburg.
