WBGU-PBS presents ‘Night of the Eclipse’ at BGSU Planetarium

From WBGU-PBS

A lunar eclipse will occur in the early hours of Friday, March 14, peaking at 3 a.m.

To celebrate this lunar spectacular, WBGU-PBS is presenting “Night of the Eclipse: A Cosmic Journey for Families” on March 13 at 5:30 p.m. in the Bowling Green State University Planetarium.

While the planetarium is not hosting an overnight viewing of the lunar eclipse, the WBGU-PBS event earlier in the evening will help educate families about this rare celestial phenomenon.

Night of the Eclipse, which kicks off The Moon Speakers Series, offers an exciting and educational experience about the science behind the upcoming lunar eclipse. Families will discover how the phases of the moon work and why it appears to change shape in the sky. They will learn what causes a lunar eclipse, and why the moon turns red during a total eclipse.

During the Night of the Eclipse presentation, each family will receive a free STEM kit and a book to continue the learning at home (while supplies last).

At 6;30 p.m., following the lunar eclipse presentation, the BGSU Planetarium will present “Max Goes to the Moon,” based on the children’s book of the same name.
