WGTE wants kids to share their stories

From WGTE PUBLIC MEDIA

The WGTE Share a Story Contest begins on Monday, Jan. 6 and ends on Friday, Feb. 7.

This annual contest, made possible by the Conda Family, was created to encourage young children to express themselves through writing and drawing. WGTE invites children ages 4-12 to write, illustrate and submit stories to WGTE.

Each child who enters the contest will receive a completion certificate. Prizes will be awarded to First, Second and Third place winners in each age group category at a celebration to be held at WGTE Public Media. The teacher with the most students who enter will receive a special prize bag with a $100 Visa or Mastercard giftcard.

How to Enter:

• A child writes his or her own story on the contest entry form in three parts – a beginning, middle and end. An adult may print the story on behalf of younger child who cannot write, using only the child’s own words. (download contest entry form or pick up from WGTE)
• A child illustrates or draws his or her story using one illustration or drawing for each part of his or her story (using up to three illustrations).
• A parent or guardian must complete and sign the acknowledgement of contest rules (on the entry form).
Stories and signed entry forms can be scanned and emailed to shareastorywgte@gmail.com. Stories and entries may also be dropped off at WGTE, 1270 South Detroit Ave., Toledo, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or mailed to:
