From WOOD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the results of the annual jail inspection conducted by the Bureau of Adult Detention. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction inspected the jail on Aug. 13, consisting of the inspector reviewing requested documentation, touring selected areas of the jail, and having discussions with various jail staff and inmates. The jail standards required were met in full compliance, with not one area to be found non-compliant. The inspection completed, along with the state’s report, recognized the Wood County Jail as having 100% compliance with all essential and non-essential standards and therefore is considered a “certified jail.”
Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said, “I am very proud of our entire jail staff – from the deputies, medical and mental health workers, kitchen staff, volunteer services, and our maintenance team that earn this 100% passing rating year after year. This marks 21 straight years that we have received 100% compliance. Their day-in and day-out professionalism and pride in their jobs are something the citizens of Wood County should be proud of. Even the state inspector made comments on a few areas of note that are listed below that are very impressive.”
One inspector note read, “On the day of the inspection, it was noted that the jail is immaculately clean, in all areas. It is evident that the staff take cleaning as a priority. The incarcerated persons that were interviewed complimented and greatly appreciate the clean conditions of the jail.
Another note read, “On the day of the inspection, staff in all areas was courteous and professional and was able to answer any questions when interviewed. The incarcerated persons interviewed all mentioned how they appreciate the staff’s demeanor and professionalism.
