From WOOD COUNTY DISTRICT PUBLIC LIBRARY

This September, the Wood County District Public Library (WCDPL) invites the community to celebrate “Library Card Sign-Up Month” and discover how a single card can open the door to endless opportunities. With a library card, a person can do more than check out books. From free classes and job resources to homework help, streaming media, and cultural events, today’s libraries connect communities to information and each other.

This year’s theme, “One Card, Endless Possibilities,” is a reminder that libraries are for everyone – no matter a person’s age, background, or goals. Whether someone is diving into a new hobby, searching for their next great read, brushing up on technological skills, or helping their child succeed in school, it can all begin with a library card.

At WCDPL, people can find:

  • A “Library of Things” with over 50 items, including giant games, technology, such as an action camera, DIY helpers, such as laser levels, and more
  • A dedicated digital collection, Libby for WCDPL, with less wait-time than other digital collections
  • Databases to help people learn new languages, study new skills, or find their next favorite reads
  • The “Seed Library,” which houses community seeds to take from or give to for one’s gardening needs
  • Programs and events for all ages – from storytimes and book clubs to job search support and help with technology

Getting a library card is free and typically a short process. For students, it can be a key to academic success. For adults, it can be a gateway to lifelong learning. For everyone, it can be a way for people to stay connected to their community.

To get a library card, visit the nearest WCDPL location. For questions, call 419-352-5104 or email woodref@wcdpl.org.
