Gathering Volumes to host authors Maurice Broaddus and Tobias Buckell for book launch event

From GATHERING VOLUMES

Gathering Volumes invites readers, science fiction fans, and lovers of imaginative storytelling to an evening celebrating the release of “A City Dreaming,” the anticipated final installment in Maurice Broaddus’s “Astra Black” trilogy. The event will take place at Gathering Volumes on Wednesday, July 1, at 6:30 p.m.

Broaddus will be joined in conversation by New York Times bestselling author and World Fantasy Award-winner Tobias Buckell for a discussion exploring worldbuilding, speculative fiction, and the themes behind the “Astra Black” series.

“A City Dreaming” concludes the “Astra Black” trilogy, an epic science fiction saga that blends the futuristic technology of “Black Panther,” the vast scope of “The Expanse,” and the intricate political maneuvering of “Game of Thrones.” Set within a struggling interstellar empire, the series follows soldiers, scientists, diplomats, and leaders whose choices will determine whether their civilization survives.

Broaddus is an award-winning author known for his imaginative storytelling, rich worldbuilding, and thoughtful explorations of culture, identity, and power. His work spans science fiction, fantasy, and horror, earning acclaim from readers and critics alike.

Buckell’s conversation with Broaddus aims to be an engaging discussion for longtime fans and newcomers to the genre.

“We are thrilled to host two remarkable voices in speculative fiction for what promises to be a fascinating and inspiring conversation,” said Denise Phillips, owner of Gathering Volumes. “Whether you’ve read the ‘Astra Black’ trilogy, or Tobias Buckell, or science fiction in general, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn directly from the authors.”

The event is open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase books and meet the authors following the discussion.
