Parks enrich Bowling Green’s quality of life

We are very fortunate to have a wonderful array of parks and recreational facilities in Bowling Green, but Parks and Recreation needs our financial support to be able to keep these resources in top condition.

You can help ensure that if you are a Bowling Green resident by voting for the City Parks levy in the November election. This levy will authorize a replacement of the current 2 mill levy. This millage means that a family owning a home with an assessed value of $150,000 would only pay about $8.75, on a monthly basis, to provide this essential financial support.

This money will help to ensure that we are able to continue to enjoy the 11 parks covering 393 acres of land, as well as the multi-featured Bowling Green Community Center, the award-winning Pool & Waterpark Facility, and the brand-new Veterans Building.

Bowling Green has an average of 12.4 acres of park land per 100,000 residents which exceeds the national average of 9.5 acres per 100,000. The parks are used by people of all ages and abilities from 6 months to more than 95 years old.

Indeed, one of the reasons that Bowling Green was named one of the Top Ten Places to Raise a Family in the nation and has twice been named one of Ohio’s Best Hometowns is because of the wonderful parks that we have.

So please join me in voting to approve this levy so we can be sure to continue to enjoy and benefit from this valuable resource that enhances our community and enriches our lives.
