Section of North Church Street to be closed for utility work for new city building

Bowling Green City Building

In conjunction with the Bowling Green City Building project, utility work is planned to begin Oct. 31 on North Church Street. This work will include removing the sidewalk, excavating, and installing conduits on the east side of Church Street from the existing City Building to Court Street.

During this work, North Church Street will be one way northbound from Court Street to Clay Street. It is anticipated that this portion of the project will be complete on Nov. 11 and that North Church will revert to two-way traffic.

For a portion of this time period, work will also impact access to the library’s parking lot. Access will be maintained via a temporary entrance off West Court Street during the time the main entrance is closed.

Due to the removal of the sidewalk, pedestrians will need to use the sidewalk on the west side of Church Street. The new sidewalk is scheduled for installation in the fall of 2023 when the existing City Building will be demolished and a new parking lot and site improvements will be constructed.

This timeline is dependent upon progress of work and weather.
