WGTE Summer Radio Festival to premiere on FM 91

From WGTE PUBLIC MEDIA

WGTE Public Media has announced the debut of a new, locally-produced radio show, “The WGTE Summer Radio Festival.” The program will debut on Monday, June 29, and will air from 7 – 8 p.m. for 13 weeks on weeknights.

Host Mickey Miller curates a daily hour of discovery, specially designed to help listeners find their next favorite musical act. The program highlights local, national, and global artists, finding inspiration in a variety of musical styles. Listeners can expect new ideas, blurred genres, and fresh perspectives.

“Summer evenings are a great time to unwind and unplug with music,” Miller said. “I’m looking forward to sharing new favorites with our listeners.”

In addition, “The Red String Radio Hour” is moving to Saturdays at 10 a.m., beginning on July 4. The Red String Radio Hour starts with one song, then makes a series of connections that lead through other artists and other genres. Along the way, host Eric Klinger shares some of the lore surrounding the music and the people who make it – and takes opportunities to point out the region’s contributions to music.

“The WGTE Summer Radio Festival and The Red String Radio Hour are both thoroughly original programs that do even more to broaden FM 91’s musical palette,” said Brad Cresswell, WGTE FM 91 radio station manager. “Mickey and Eric each bring unique sensibilities to their shows, and we believe that they will truly resonate with our audience.”
